Real Wedding: Kindra and Phil

unnamed (7)

Kindra and Phil celebrated their wedding on September 21, 2013 at their family farm. The couple chose Splashdrop Photography to capture the special day. Infused Catering provided the meal and Sugar Leaf Bakery created the delicious cake for the reception. Shannon Custom Floral designed all the arrangements, including the stunning bouquet, and decorated the reception tent. The yummy S’mores bar was designed by Social Graces. Kindra bought her beautiful gown from Normans in Downtown Springfield.

Here’s a sample of the gorgeous day!

Cheers! Cake Batter & Sprinkles No Bake Cheesecake

IMG_5484For Zeda’s family party, I did a Sprinkle themed birthday.  She loved it because the amount of sweets that were provided and I loved it because of the plethora of options I had with sprinkles.  One of my favorite recipes of the day was this lovely cake batter & sprinkles no bake cheesecake I found on I’m Topsy Turvy (you can do this recipe without the sprinkles).

People loved it!

Cake Batter & Sprinkles No Bake Cheesecake
Crust
3/4 C Nilla wafers, crushed
1/4 C Ginger snaps, crushed
4 oz. butter, melted

Stir together nilla wafers and ginger snaps and melted butter in a bowl until well combined. Pour a few tablespoons into the bottom of your containers (I used Small Mason Jars) to make the crust. (You do not need to bake this.)

Cheesecake Filling
1 (8 oz.) block cream cheese, softened
4 Tbsp. butter, softened
3/4 C cake mix
1/4 C milk
1 (8 oz.) tub frozen whipped cream topping, thawed
sprinkles

Beat the cream cheese and butter together in your mixer, with your whisks or cookie paddles, on medium speed until smooth and well blended. Add in dry cake mix and milk and continue mixing until well blended.

Then gently fold in the whipped cream topping with a spatula. I keep the filling in a gallon sized bag, and pipped it on top of the “crust” just before serving! Sprinkle on the Sprinkles!

* The cups are from Target and the spoons were leftover from a wedding we had recently done. (I only had five so they were mere decoration.)

DIY: Rope Words

We found this original DIY on the Wednesday blog – it was also featured on Green Wedding Shoes. This is such a great idea and could be used to display all sorts of fun and meaningful words or phrases.

You will need:

  • rope or jute
  • 4 oz. white school glue
  • 1/2 cup of cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup of warm water
  • wax paper

After gathering your supplies, lay the wax paper out over your work space.

Then, pick your word (or words)!

Whisk the cornstarch, glue and warm water together in a bowl until its smooth.

Feed the rope into the mixture until it is saturated.

Lay out your word on the wax paper. Wednesday says Push down hard in the areas where the rope overlaps. You may also need to apply extra glue mixture to those areas to ensure the hold when dried. And that’s it! Once you’ve finished let your word dry on a hard, flat surface for 12 hours.

And display!
