Paper & Stitch’s Fresh Flower Napkin Ring

I recently came across this beautiful DIY from Paper & Stitch. First, I love the contrast of the dainty whimsical flowers agains the charcoal napkins. Seems effortless doesn’t it?

This little project was originally featured by Paper & Stitch on the wedding blog, One Lovely Day. You can click over there for the full tutorial or check out Paper & Stitch’s abbreviated post on it here.

You can even use it as place cards (as seen above). Maybe its too big of a project for the entire wedding guest list, but what about adding the extra detail to the head table? Or switching out for fall flowers and raising the level for Thanksgiving (guys, Thanksgiving is next month!).

That’s my favorite thing about a DIY – making it your own. 🙂

Dried Fall Bouquet

1I2A0066Earlier this month I shot Carly & Jonathan’s nuptials at King’s River Golf Course in Shell Knob. As I have been going through, editing their images, I cannot get over how gorgeous and unique her bouquet was. 1I2A0044

Carly (a stylist at Studio 417) and her mom used beautiful and rich dried flowers to create the arrangement. The bouquet itself was a little delicate, but oh-so-worth-it! for the look it accomplished. I just had to share!1I2A9881

There are so many fall bouquet options out there, but this (by far!) is one of my most favorite looks. 1I2A98911I2A0056

Kudos to Carly & her mom!

How to Improve Your Wedding Photos

8408859033_012caf1a39_oI recently came across the article “7 Tips to Improve Your Wedding Photos” on the  Mod Wedding blog.

As a wedding photographer, it seriously is one of the best articles I’ve read and I just had to share! From what to with your own body to what to request from guests, the writer, Kacie Lynch, doesn’t miss a beat.

If you are a bride, read this! You won’t regret it.

Trend: Naked Cake

A new trend I really have my sights on are what they call a “naked” cake.  I never imagined loving a cake without the beautiful smooth coat of icing but I do.  They are so charming and adds a new look to any event or wedding.  I mean, who besides the little kids eats all the icing?  If you are like me, you scrap that large mass of icing off anyways.

Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday.  Sorry for the absent on the blog this past week.  Things are crazy in the social graces world.  It’s a good crazy 😉

Wire Cake Topper

1I2A5925Earlier this month, Becca and I had the great honor of being a part of Rachel & TJ‘s sweet wedding (Becca coordinated and I photographed). Rachel had so many great details, but one of my favorites was her wedding cake topper.
Bridal hangers (example here) made with this type of wire have become a regular tradition for many weddings we are a part of. But, this was the first time we’d had it used as a cake topper and we were crazy about it!

Rachel purchased this cake topper from Heather Boyd Wire‘s Etsy shop (she has tons of cute items available!). In the name of DIY though, I found this tutorial to share from Made By Maria. Now I am thinking of all the things I could do with wire! 🙂1I2A6154Images via Meg White Photography.
