Trend: Naked Cake

A new trend I really have my sights on are what they call a “naked” cake.  I never imagined loving a cake without the beautiful smooth coat of icing but I do.  They are so charming and adds a new look to any event or wedding.  I mean, who besides the little kids eats all the icing?  If you are like me, you scrap that large mass of icing off anyways.

Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday.  Sorry for the absent on the blog this past week.  Things are crazy in the social graces world.  It’s a good crazy 😉

Trend: Popsicle Cocktail

Hello everyone!

Summer has arrived and it’s time to enjoy some delicious popsicle!

This week I came across this fun summer trend the Popsicle Cocktail we found on Lauryn Galloway Photography. I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to see this summer idea everywhere. It’s a unique and fun way to enjoy popsicle that everyone will just love.

Things you will need:

  • Champagne (the brand is up to you)
  • Box of fruit popsicles
  • Wine glasses

Simply place a fruit popsicle in each wine glass, then pour champagne over the popsicle. For more information and fun ways to enjoy these drinks, click here.

This drink is not only for adult, you can buy sparkling wines so the kids can enjoy, too. Have fun and enjoy these drinks for your next dinner party!

Behind the Veil

il_570xN.424002042_dhgfWhen I got married (nearly 5 years ago!), I decided to forgo the traditional veil and go with a birdcage (gasp!). At that time (for the Midwest), it seemed a little crazy that I wouldn’t wear a veil. I even had to argue with my mother about it. Now, with wedding traditions being so give and take, that seems silly. What you wear on your head is just another way to inject a little of your personality into your big day.

Recently, veils have made a comeback in a big way… and I’m not going to lie, a little part of me regrets not having one. Some of these beauties make me want to swoon. They are soft and modern, fresh and editorial.

Sometimes, though, veils can get a little confusing. So, when I came across this article from BHLDN, I just had to share.

Not only did they share this awesome veil chart, they also give ideas on where to place your veil, how to select the appropriate veil and how to care for your veil. BONUS: you can start your veil shopping on the same link!

Color Trend: Neon

Ladies & Gentleman: Neon is making a comeback. It has been creeping into fashion for awhile and now it is showing up on the event scene. And, I must say, it is super fun.

For example, take a look at this bright kid’s birthday party featured on 100 Layer Cake-Let by the ladies of HelloLucky

For your next event, challenge yourself to think outside the box, and maybe (just maybe!) go for the neon!

Trend: Show Stopping Gowns from the Back

Keija Minor of Brides magazine visited the Today Show yesterday to discuss the latest trend in wedding dresses: Show stopping gowns from the back.

“If you think about it, key moments of the wedding, the bride spends facing away from her guests, walking down the aisle, saying her vows, during her first dance and cutting the cake. so our advice to ladies shopping for their wedding dress , don’t just think about the front, you have to think about the rear view.”

Trend: Cobalt Blue

Cobalt Blue is a huge trend in fall fashion right now. Accessories Magazine is says“designers add a splash of bold color to Fall’s palette with cobalt blue. This striking blue stands out against the typical neutral and jewel colors of fall. Universally flattering, cobalt blue is the perfect accent color, making it a great shade for accessories.”

So…why not incorporate that into your wedding? It’s a beautiful and bold pop of color. We love it as an accent color mixed with neutrals, yellows, pinks or greens (as seen above).

Need a little more inspiration? We especially love these bridesmaid dresses in Cobalt.  Source.

Have a great weekend!

Trend: Balloons

Balloons are no longer the “cheap” party decoration. They are a perfect pop of color or a sweet added touch to wedding or engagement pictures. In the past, balloons were mainly seen at a kid’s birthday party. However, balloons are being used more and more for all sorts of parties and photo shoots. Below you can find a few images where balloons were used in a very fun, yet classy way.
