6 Ways to Make Your Reception More Fun

The itinerary for a lot of weddings is relatively predictable. After the ceremony, there’s typically dinner and dancing, and possibly a toast from the best man that’s cringe worthy. There’s nothing wrong with being traditional, but what if you want more?

Making your wedding more memorable for you and your guests doesn’t have to be expensive; it just requires a little creativity and openness on your part. We put together a list of activities for you to choose from to make your wedding less textbook and more “playful.”

Play Giant Jenga

Normal sized Jenga is fun, but for an outdoor wedding, Giant Jenga could be a blast. Instead of engaging in friendly small talk about how they know the bride and groom, guests have the opportunity to engage in a little friendly competition.

Have a Hula Hoop ContestHulaHoop

Fun cocktails paired with a hula hoop contest may help your guests loosen up, especially if you want to get your money’s worth out of the dance floor all night long. Guests may need the kids to show them how it’s done initially. (image via Tulle and Chantilly)

Lip-sync Battle

You’ve seen it on Jimmy Fallon and it’s hilarious, so why not bring that kind of energy to your wedding? Some of your guests may surprise you with their skills! Check out Emma Stone’s performance for inspiration.

Have a Sack Race

Obviously, if guests are dressed too formally, this isn’t an option.  Having a sack race would be ideal for a casual outdoor wedding. While this activity is certainly unique as far as post wedding activities goes, it is also extremely cheap because you only need sacks and a few energetic volunteers.

Keep ScoreScoreboard

Keep track of who wins the most games (bridesmaids versus groomsmen). Even if your guests don’t choose to participate directly, they can still cheer on their favorite “team.” (image via Element of Elegance )

America’s Best Wedding Dance Crew

This activity may take a little planning and a whole lot of rhythm. Again, you could make it bridesmaids versus grooms. Each “crew” can showcase their best moves while providing ample entertainment for your guests in the process.

These are all just merely suggestions to help you switch up the traditional wedding agenda and possibly obtain some hilarious videos for Facebook! For more ideas and inspiration, visit our Pinterest page.

I wanted to bring cozy fall luxuries that you find inside, outdoors. Warm apple cider with cinnamon sticks, intimate conversation and richly textured furs. I wanted to create a space that made the nip in the air enhance the experience. Weddings are the ultimate romantic celebration, this outdoor space was built to create a romantic experience.
When you have a winter wedding outdoors it’s important that it not only look fabulous but feels fabulous to your guests. Backing each chair with a fux fur throw does just that. Whether it be throws, warm drinks, or a fire pit it is always a good idea to create opportunities for guests to feel as comfortable as possible. Nestling reception tables in cozy wooded outdoor areas can also help create a more warm intimate experience for guests.
I would also be sure and note in your invitation that the celebration will be held outdoors. Guests are always more comfortable when they can come prepared and dress appropriately.
