Something Borrowed: Patriotic Airplane Hanger Wedding

I am in love with this Patriotic Airplane Hanger Wedding that Green Wedding Shoes showcased back in February. It is a subtle nod to patriotism; not over the top and in your face but, instead, completely tasteful and sophisticated. So get your patriotic spirit going with this beautiful inspirational post.

417 Bride Summer 2012 Sneak Peak

We have spent the last few weeks getting ready to style the 417 Bride Summer 2012 feature shoot that happened last week. As always, it was a great experience and I think we pulled off some beautiful themes. The issue will be on local Springfield, MO newsstands in June and we can’t wait to see how the styling turned out in images. Thank you to all the vendors and models that participated in making the shoot a success. You can check out previous issues online at 417 Bride.

Here’s a very tiny sneak peak into the shoots…

Trend: Color

When I was planning my wedding, It was not a common idea to place your bridesmaids in different dresses, let alone, different colors. Now, I’m seeing wedding after wedding with girls in beautiful, unique  dresses in a variety of colors.  I feel it gives freedom to your girls to show their personality and gives them a sense of ownership in your wedding.  I’m lovin’ all the beauty in the colors, whether they are bright or neutral, it makes you as the bride stand out on your big day!

DIY: Body Scrub {a base for salt scrub or sugar scrub}

Today’s DIY comes from Deliciously Organized and is a perfect gift for any girly baby shower, wedding shower or girls night out. You can make the jars in a variety of ways along with the sent of your scrub. Here are two recipes for your scrub that you can either make together at your next party or simply hand them out as favors.

Images found at deliciously organized

Both of these bases {below} can be used to make any scent of scrub you’d like by switching out the essential oil. For example, you could use sweet orange, lavender, rose, peppermint, almond oil, etc. or whatever your favorite scent is with this base. The measurements for the base are:

1/2 cup of organic sea salt
1/3 cup of organic raw sugar or 1/3 cup of organic cane sugar {tip: cane sugar is softer than the raw}
1 cup of room temperature coconut oil {best when it has a liquid consistency}
30 drops of essential oil

1/2 cup of organic raw sugar or 1/2 cup of organic cane sugar {tip: cane sugar is softer than the raw}
1/3 cup of organic sea salt
1 cup of coconut oil {best when it has a liquid consistency}
30 drops of essential oil

Add ingredients in order listed above, topping it off with coconut oil {add more coconut oil if you like it less dry}. Then, add essential oil and stir with a butter knife. Tip-the coconut oil may go back to a more solid form, add 1/4 cup of almond oil to create a liquid consistency again or more coconut oil.
