This past weekend we coordinated a beautiful fall wedding at Enchanted Hills. One of our favorite details was the Jam & Jelly Party Favors that the bride & groom personally made. They had incredible flavors like spicy plum, strawberry lemon and apple ginger. It was such a great idea, that we thought we would share a jam recipe for you to give away at your next festivity!
Apple Ginger Jam by Treehugger
3 lbs. tart cooking apples, such as mcintosh
2 1/2 cups water or fresh apple cider
3/4 cup sugar per cup of fruit
2 small lemons, rinds finely grated and juice
4 oz. crystallized ginger, finely chopped, or 1 teaspoon powdered ginger
1. Wash, core roughly, and cut up the apples. Put them in a large kettle and add the water or fresh cider. Cook until the apples are very soft and breaking up. Strain the apples, measure, and return to the kettle.
2. Add 3/4 cup sugar per cup of fruit.
3. Add the lemon rind and juice and the ginger.
4. Heat slowly and cook to desired thickness. Seal in sterile jars.
Yield: will depend on how thick you want your jam
