Birthday: Zeda’s Second

Zeda turned two and we celebrated with her favorite book. For a year now, she has been especially fond of her Itsy Bitsy Spider book. Since she is still too young to have much of an opinion about her party theme we grabbed onto something she loved. The day was perfect. It was raining all morning until 30 minutes before the party. Then, the sun came out and we fired up the grill. We cooked out, had a bunch of sweets, read Itsy Bitsy Spider, swam in the kidy pools and of course opened presents.  I can’t wait until her next birthday!

DIY: Shower Invitations

I decided to add a special touch to The Kayser’s baby shower invitations. I was able to download these invites (for FREE) from The Wedding Chicks, click here to see their options. I realize these are wedding invitations but they work great for showers as well. Below is the invitation I used.  I picked my color scheme and filled in the blanks with my shower information.  After that, all you do is hit print!Image found here

Next, I made a bunch of these fabric flowers, instructions found here.  I matched the color perfectly to the invitations.
Then I picked a ribbon I loved and cut strips that fit around the invitationsNext, I hot glued all the ribbon to fit around the invitations then glued a flower over the seam.
Once you are finished, slide the ribbon over each invitation and your work is done!

“ellothere” invitations

Ashley is no stranger to style. Now that she is getting married, she is putting her heart and soul into all the sweet details. Check out these super cute wedding invitations.

From Ashley: The designer is a seller on Etsy, ellothere . I fell in love with the silhouettes immediately, and we’ll be using them in different ways throughout the wedding. The stamp we used for the return addresses is also a seller on Etsy, lettergirl . I will definitely be ordering one for Nick’s and my new apartment!  We had everything printed at Overnight Prints because we use them for most of our big printing projects at work and have a good relationship with them (plus, it was really, really inexpensive).

The wedding planning experience has been a blast! Our wedding will be very quirky and DIY. Planning a wedding has given me a chance to try all kinds of fun projects that I’ve been itching to try, but haven’t really had a reason to. It was really important to me that every aspect of the wedding have a part of us in it (not in a controlling bridezilla sort of way, but in a creative, handmade kind of way).

You can check more of Ashley’s wedding details by visiting her blog.

Vendor Spotlight: Social Graces, Nashville, TN

We are so excited to sneak a look into what our favorite Nashville shop has to offer brides. If you have been following along, you might remember us blogging about the Social Graces shop located in the Hillsboro Village (Nashville, TN). Owners, Teresa Palmer & Rebecca Climer, established the store in 2002 and it quickly became a hit in the historic area. Our friend Cori, is a designer there and she had this to say about the Social Graces bridal experience:

“We invite every bride to make themselves at home and to hopefully be inspired by the design of the store and the beautiful sample invitations we have displayed for them. We love that every bride has a different idea and look forward to creating for them something truly unique and reflective of them. Also, providing music, delicious cookies by Sweet G (a Nashville favorite), and offering refreshments is just a little way to say a big “thank you” to any bride who decides to see what we have. For the out of town bride, we do a lot of ordering through email (napkins, thank you’s, table cards, menus, welcome cards, etc.).”

Although they prefer all brides to come to the store, for the full experience, they do all that they can to accomodate clients. If you are a local Springfield bride, we would say that the inspiration alone is definitely worth the trip!
